The origins of Dorman Smith go back to the earliest days of the Electrical Industry; indeed, we can be fairly described as a founder member. The business began in Manchester in 1978 when the Electric Light was still a matter of public amazement, In 1886, John Raworth, the founder sold out to Charles Dorman and Reginald Smith who gave the company its name.

Dorman Smith attributes its success to a culture to a technical innovation and ground-breaking research. As a recognition of their efforts our R&D department holds several patents and our wide range of products and systems are tested and certified to the latest IEC standards in reputed third part testing laboratories such as ASTA, DEKRA, UL and others.

In Dubai, we assemble, perform Work Tests (Routine Tests) & supply the whole range of Low Voltage Switchgear from the simplest Distribution Board to the most complex multi-cable switchboards. All switchgear, circuit protection devices, control gear and power quality correction components used in our switchboard assemblies are from Dorman Smith. Dorman Smith’s Tested & Certified Assembles are constructed in a quality-controlled environment approved to ISO 9001:2015 standards, throughout the design, manufacturing, and testing processes. We have extensive experience in designing and constructing Low Voltage Switchboard Assemblies to the requirements of the Middle East market. Our dedicated engineering team utilizes the latest software to estimate, design and size each switchboard assembly.

In addition to the Dubai facility, Dorman Smith UK has established fully equipped assembly facilities in Qatar and Oman to provide local design, Estimation, Assembly, Testing & After Sales Support to those markets locally.
